Occurrence

Both enantiomers may be found in the essential oils of laurel plants and the daisy and labiate families, (+)-camphor particularly in the bark and resin of the camphor tree.

Medicinal properties

Used carefully, camphor acts on the central nervous system, stimulating circulation, alleviating heart complaints and coughing as well as muscle and joint aches.
